One of my most profound early life lessons comes from my childhood experience working on the farm where I grew up in rural Mexico. Out on the corn fields, nothing was automated. Everything had to be done manually, from sowing to harvesting. We could not afford fancy farming equipment or vehicles. Our family of 7 siblings worked hard to support our single mother to complete the work each season. My lesson here was that without this dedicated work, there was no food on the table. From this experience, I learned the value of humility, discipline, respect, teamwork, and the fact that there are no shortcuts to enduring success.
When I relocated to the USA from Mexico, at the age of 12, the exposure to a new language, culture, values, traditions, and history taught me another life lesson, adaptability. This relocation was one of the toughest and most difficult experiences in my life, but it prepared me for the future on how to personally lead through change successfully.
Several years later, while studying at the University of Texas at Austin, with a strong foundation of dedicated work and family values, I learned a third language on my own. This helped me win a scholarship to study in Italy. This time however, I was more prepared than ever to embrace my third cultural encounter with another country Europe. I had become highly adaptable to new social and cultural environments.
After I graduated from The University of Texas, I started working for Wells Fargo as a Teller and developed professionally into branch manager, district manager, business execution consultant, and behavior influencer, which was a total of 20 years combined working in four different states (Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa). What an experience! WOW!
In 2019, I completed my second Masters Degree from Bellevue University in Nebraska. So what is next? I am learning a fourth language, French. Life is a beautiful journey, everything is possible when you devote yourself to what you want to achieve with soul, heart, mind, energy, and enthusiasm.
